Ethical rules 

Edition is a scientific works collection founded in 1997 by Kyiv National Economic University. The edition objective is to create a platform for spreading, exchange and structuring of scientific information; to provide an opportunity to promulgate urgent researches results to Ukrainian scientists and other countries; and to provide scientists, students and professionals interested in applied and fundamental economic studies, economic management, and regulation with free access to scientific knowledge. The editorship accepts scientific articles devoted to issues of explaining, modeling, predicting, managing and regulating of economic processes on macro-, micro- and international levels; of consequences assessment of social and economic reforms, structural and institutional changes in social and industrial systems of regional, branch, national, and global level; of applied issues of state policy, international economic relations and their major forms, scientific research methods and economic education.  

Selecting works for publishing the editorship is directed by article issue urgency in current scientific discourse, reasonableness of methods adherence and research methods selection sufficiency, scientific and applied value of its results. Starting from the first issue, the collection is enrolled on the list of scientific professional issues of Ukraine where the results of theses for receiving PhD and candidate's degrees in economic science may be published. State registration certificate: KW #11576-448 from August 27, 2006; professional registration in High Attestation Commission of Ukraine: Regulation #1-05/7 from June 9, 1999; it’s also a printed periodical included to the following scientific metric bases: Research Bible, Google Scholar, Global Serials Directory, National Library named after V.I. Major principles of the scientific works collection are based on publication of scientific researches results in fundamental and applied economy and comply with the following specialization directions: 015, 051, 071, 072, 073, 075, 076, 281, 292, particularly: accounting and taxation; finances, banking and insurance; economy; management; entrepreneurship, trade and exchange activity; public ruling and administration; international economic relations; professional education (economics); marketing; and tourism. Subject directions: urgent issues of economic theory; public administration and national industry managing; economy, entrepreneurship, trade and exchange activity; business management; labor economy and regional economy; finances, banking and insurance; accounting and taxation; mathematic modeling and information technologies in economy; international economic relations; sustainable and innovative development, marketing management, and tourism. 

 
  •  Ethical rules for authors. Authors must guarantee originality of their researches. It is forbidden to submit articles which have already been published or to simultaneously submit the same article to several journals. All persons who have contributed to a research including idea and research objective forming, methods approach, doing the research and results interpretation, must be mentioned as co-authors. It is essential to avoid any kind of plagiarism and to follow current legislation on intellectual property. Authors must guarantee that methods and results of their research are appropriately presented and objectively interpreted. It is necessary to clearly give warnings on quality of empirical data and methods usage. Any speculations during research procedures and results interpretation are unacceptable. The editorship may appeal to authors about information clarifying, thus an author, who is in charge of correspondence with the editorship, is responsible for proper forming of co-authors list as well as informing all co-authors about the final version of an article and approving of the article for publishing.
  •  Ethical rules for reviewers. Reviewing process is anonymous and provides scientific article assessment based on expediency of its publishing in the journal. Reviewers must give their opinion about the article and suggest ideas on publishing it. In order to guarantee fast and unprejudiced review, it is vital to provide the editorship with confirmation of one’s competence in the given subject and ability to cope with a task within the given time period. Reviewers are obliged to keep confidentiality of received materials. It is forbidden to spread materials received for reviewing and to discuss them with anybody except for the journal editorship representatives. When reviewing an article, it is necessary to be fully objective and to explain arguments clearly. Reviewers must inform the editorship about any publications that haven’t been properly cited by authors.  Reviewer mustn’t use information obtained while considering an article for personal purposes, particularly for getting any personal benefit. Reviewers are obliged to refuse reviewing if there’s interest conflict such as partnership or competition with any author of an article or establishment/organization where the work was made or where at least one of the authors works.
  •  Ethical rules for editors. The journal editorship isn’t responsible for a decision to publish an article. The editorship’s decision is definitive. Editor’s decision must be based on own judgment about scientific significance of an article as well as reviewers’ reviews. The journal editorship does their best to avoid intellectual rights violation, plagiarism or any other illegal actions of authors. When making a decision, the editorship considers only articles’ quality. Editors can’t use materials of rejected articles for their personal purposes. Editors must strictly follow the rules on anonymity, particularly to guarantee reviewers’ anonymity. Additionally, editors aren’t allowed to spread any information about submitted articles to anybody except for authors, reviewers, scientific consultants, and publisher.

Publication fee. One page of original article presented to be published in scientific collections, journals and other professional periodicals of Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman is ‎₴54 (with VAT).

Article submitting form:

  1. Article must contain 12-16 A4 pages typed with TimesNewRoman, 14 pt (font size), 1.5 line spacing, all margins – 2cm, indent – 1.25 cm.
  2. Numbers of co-authors – not more than three.
  3. Articles must be created with Microsoft Word. Don’t use styles, don’t number pages. Words can’t be carried over to the next line.
  4. All non-text objects must be created with Microsoft Word tools, formulas – with Equation, diagrams or charts – with Graph or Microsoft Excel. All the graphic material must be black and white, shading – dashing. When creating diagrams, charts and formulas, use Times New Roman, 12 pt (font size), 1 line spacing.
  5. Article presentation is to be clear and brief; a number of tables, formulas and pictures (diagrams, charts) must be minimal and only used when they considerably improve article content and enable a reader to understand it better and deeper as compared to text only.
  6. Tables are supposed to be compact, logically designed, have an ordinal number and a short distinct title which fully reflects the topic and the message of the table.
  7. All the data in an article must be typed with Times New Roman, 12 pt, 1 line spacing. Tables cannot step outside page margins.
  8. If there are pictures, they need to be submitted separately in the format they are created in. If pictures are created with CorelDraw, they must be in *.cdrformat. If pictures are scanned, they must be in *.tifformat, etc.
  9. Citations, tables, pictures and all digital data must be provided with source references. A source must be indicated under every table and picture (Source:….). To indicate a source, Times New Roman, 12 pt (font size) must be used.
  10. At the end of an article author needs to indicate that it is sent to be published only to Scientific Works Collection SCIENTIFIC NOTES, sign and write the date at the end of an article as well.
  11. Article must be submitted to the editorial office by an author as a hard copy and digitally.
  12. Scientific editorial board does plagiarism check as well as inner and outside article review. In case of negative article review, it may be returned to the author for correcting or rejected. Articles which don’t meet the given requirements won’t be considered by the editorial board. The editorial board saves a right to shorten and modify articles.

Articles which meet the following requirements are to be published:

  1. Article must be topical, contain results of profound scientific research and grounding of received scientific conclusions. 
  2. Article must be written in Ukrainian (English), carefully read by author(s), correspond with subject direction of the scientific works collection and contain all structural parts (following the indicated succession) according to point 3 of  the Regulation of Supreme Certification Committee of Ukraine from January 15, 2003 #7-05/1, particularly: Index of Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) placed at the beginning of an article in the upper left corner (Times New Roman, 14 pt); Information about author(s) of an article and its abstract in the upper right corner of a page placed first in Ukrainian, then in English and include the following:
  3. Information about the author(last name, initials, academic title and scientific degree, place of work or study, position, city/town, country, email, ORCID (you may register here: https://orcid.org/).
  4. The article name– capital letters, centered text in Ukrainian (or the original language of an article) and then English (TimesNewRoman, 14 pt., bold).The article name must be given without narrowly defined abbreviations, there must be no period at the end of the article name (it must be short (maximum 10 words); reflect the research results thus the research objective but not the research process; omit such words as analysis, research, investigation, problem etc. in the article name); 
  5. Abstractwritten in Ukrainian and English (not less than 1,800 characters!). Abstract must contain brief statement of the article content but mustn’t repeat the article name. Abstract general structure is supposed to contain:
  6. urgency of the research;
  7. target setting;
  8. actual scientific researches and issues analysis;
  9. uninvestigated parts of general matters defining;
  10. the research objective;
  11. the statement of basic materials;
  12. conclusions;
  13. Key words(5-8, alphabetically, Times New Roman, 12 pt, italics);

  15. article bodywhich must meet the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine requirements to scientific articles published in professional publications (approved by the Regulation of Presidium of Supreme Certification Committee of Ukraine from January 15, 2003 #7-05/1), in particular: to possess the following structural parts (highlighted with separate subtitles, each part starting from a new line)(TimesNewRoman, 14 pt.):
  16. Defining the general matter and its connection to important scientific or practical objectives;
  17. Extended analysis of last researches and publications where solving of this problem has been started and which authors base themselves on; emphasis on previously unsolved parts of the general matter the article is devoted to;
  18. Detailed research methods. When describing the methods, you need to include the information about the research process, e.g. research period; number of respondents, sources of information; information about experts; significant data; methods of research results estimation; other necessary information.
  19. Highlighting previously unsolved parts of a general matter;
  20. Formulating the article aims (stating the objective);
  21. Presenting the main material of a research with full grounding of received scientific results.In this part the research results must be presented as well as their novelty must be grounded.
  22. Conclusions and perspectives of further scientific researches within the direction(scientific novelty, theoretical and practical significance of the research, social and economic effect which appears as a result of scientific results implementation. Perspectives of further scientific elaboration);

             Literature (TimesNewRoman, 14 pt,bold, title–centered, the list itself– justified)(a list of sources used made according to Ukrainian standard of bibliographic description (State Standards of Ukraine 8302:2015Information and documents. Bibliographic references. General requirements and rules). The references are given at the end of an article. All the sources must be cited. The number of a source is indicated in square brackets [] in the text. The sources are given in the original language. Citations to unpublished works are not allowed. References must contain literature translated into English (TimesNewRoman, 14 pt,bold, title–centered, the list itself– justified)where there are the same sources in English given according to international bibliographic standard APA-2010(http://www.bibme.org/citation-guide/apa/).Names of Ukrainian or Russian periodicals (journals, collections, etc.) are transliterated, English variant is given in brackets.  Article names are allowed to be transliterated in accordance with transliteration rules (the Regulation from January 27, 2010, #55 About transliteration regulation of Ukrainian alphabet to Roman alphabet). The number of literature sources must contain not less than 15-20 references with at least half of them being foreign sources references. Sources names must be listed as they are cited in the article (not alphabetically).  Textbooks, publicistic articles citing in an article is not appropriate.

At the end of every point in the list the original language of a source must be given (except for English sources), e.g. [InUkrainian], [InRussian].Personalnames, last names and first names should be transliterated according to the Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers from January 27, 2010, #55 About transliteration regulation of Ukrainian alphabet to Roman alphabet (http://zakon4.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/55-2010-п).

Scientific works collection SCIENTIFIC NOTES’s editorial board includes both profound domestic and foreign scientists.

  1. Article must be presented according to Article Requirements of Scientific Works CollectionSCIENTIFIC NOTES.
  2. Articles are emailed to the editorial office (kneu.vz@gmail.com).

All letters to the editorial office should be emailed there too.

  1. The editorial board saves a right to modify manuscripts.
  2. Articles publication must be paid for according to Publication Agreement.  Authors pay for manuscript pre-printing preparation and article replication which makes ‎₴54 per one A4 page (210x297mm). Text – Times New Roman, font size -14 pt, line spacing – 1.5, margins – 2cm.

Sending journal copies to authors is paid for by the authors. To receive a journal though Ukrpost (Ukrposhta), PTC costs ‎₴50. Authors may order to receive a journal copy through New Post (Nova Poshta) (at the addressee’s expense).

  1. Article, literature, abstract, key words and information about author(s) must be provided in one file. Only article and literature are paid for. Minimal article and literature size is supposed to be not less than 12 pages.
  2. Author receives 1 (one) author’s journal copy (1 journal – 1 copy). Extra journal copies can be provided by the publisher (you need to order in advance, indicate it at the end of an article or make an order via email).
  3. Authors who don’t have a scientific degree are recommended to present articles in co-authorship with persons who possess one.
  4. Each article undergoes three stages of control:
  5. Initial control to meet all the requirements to articles;
  6. Plagiarism test and citation quality;
  7. Outer scientific review according to Regulation on Review.

If an article is not accepted to be published, the author is informed about it. The article is returned to the author to be modified and completed.

  1. The publisher categorically condemns plagiarism in articles as violation of intellectual property and scientific ethics. If over 25% of borrowed text without proper references and usage of quotation marks is noticed, an article is qualified as such that contains plagiarism (see Requirements to Articles). In such a case an article is not considered anymore and the author gets the first warning (if there is a scientific supervisor, he/she is also informed).
  2. After the outer review the editorial board makes a final decision on possibility of an article to be published. If the decision is positive, the author receives a corresponding message and an account for cashless payment that may be done at any bank.
